The USDA Office of Investigation, Enforcement, and Audit oversees all businesses handling food. From restaurants and institutional cafeterias to soup kitchens and food pantries, the USDA’s goal is to make sure food is being handled safely for the people who consume it.
Manna is proud that during a recent unannounced USDA visit our pantry met all requirements for food safety and food defense procedures. This is great news for the Manna community because it provides further confirmation that our facility is well managed and properly maintained with all procedures in place to ensure the safety of the food we distribute.
We are never given advance notice of USDA visits, so it's especially gratifying that the findings were positive in every category. The Manna Board of Directors is also pleased because the safety, security, and quality of the food we store and distribute is our highest priority.
When you think about it, Manna serves the Conejo Valley in many ways. We provide an unique opportunity for people to make a real contribution to help underserved members of our community. These contributions range from food drives, to monetary donations, to volunteering at the pantry. It's a vibrant place. And it's good to know that it's all supported by Manna staff who really care and know how to ensure the safety, security, and quality of the food we distribute.
