Boy Scouts National Food Drive
The Boy Scout Promise, “a boy scout promises to help other people at all times.” The dedicated Boy Scouts of the Conejo Valley are doing just that by getting ready for their annual National food drive, the biggest food drive of the year to benefit Manna. The annual Boy Scouts National food drive is a nation-wide event that encourages boy scouts to collect food for local hunger relief organizations. Boy Scout Packs from around the Conejo Valley have partnered with Manna on this drive for more than a decade. The boy scouts will hand out and post flyers on the weekend of Saturday, February 15, and Sunday, February 16, 2014. The non-perishable food items will then be picked up by the boy scouts on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2014. The boy scouts decided that doing their annual food drive in February, would be more practical and hopefully a more bountiful time of the year. With the holidays behind us, people seem to have more to give to the less fortunate. Roughly, more than 80 volunteers will come together to sort and organize the donations that will fill a 10 X 30 storage unit. The food will then be used to stock Manna’s Food Pantry and distributed to those in need. For more information about the Boy Scouts National Food Drive, please contact the Manna, Conejo Valley Food Bank.
